AllTop is a news product first. We rank the stories moving across the web and, where it helps, show the prediction markets pricing those same events.
Our readers come to us to understand what's happening and what traders think will happen next. That trust is the thing we most want to protect.
This page explains the principles behind the news and journalism, how we source it, how we stay independent, how we make money, and how we correct mistakes.
Key principles
News comes first. Our job is to surface what matters right now and show where it's being covered, and that judgment is made on editorial merit alone. A story leads AllTop because it's important, not because it carries a market angle or a commercial one.
Every reader is entitled to accurate, fair, and complete information. We report what happened, who is covering it, and what the sources add, and we're clear about what's known and what isn't rather than dressing up uncertainty as fact.
The line between editorial content and anything commercial stays visible. When coverage involves a platform we have a business relationship with, that doesn't change how we report it, and readers can always tell reporting from promotion.
How our rankings work
Our story rankings combine software and people. An automated model scores and sorts stories by how fresh they are, how widely they're covered, and how fast coverage is growing; editors review the top of that list and make the final call on what leads. How AllTop ranks stories covers it in full.
How we source
We work from primary sources first. For anything about a trading platform — the markets it lists, its fees, its bonuses, its resolution rules, its volume, its ownership — we go to the platform's own pages and filings before anyone's summary of them. For legal and regulatory claims, we go to the CFTC, the courts, and the regulators directly. Reporting from Reuters, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, and the Associated Press comes next, and specialist coverage after that.
We don't source facts from affiliate pages or search-optimized aggregators. If a claim can be checked against the platform or the regulator, that's where we check it. If it can't be verified, we leave it out rather than pass along a number we can't stand behind.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions at AllTop are never influenced by advertisers or commercial partners. What leads the feed, which platforms we cover, and how we rate them are decisions made by our editorial team, based on our own research and analysis.
Our coverage of a platform, favorable or unfavorable, never affects and is never affected by a business relationship with it. A commercial arrangement does not buy better coverage, and the absence of one does not cost a platform fair treatment.
How we make money
Some of our platform coverage carries affiliate arrangements, where AllTop may earn a commission if a reader signs up with an operator through our link. That's how we fund the work. It does not determine our ratings, our rankings, or whether a platform's shortcomings get reported, and we don't recommend one operator over another because it pays more.
Odds and market data
On topics with active prediction markets, we add live prices, volume, and open interest so readers can see how traders are reacting to the same news. All of it comes directly from the trading venues through their own official data feeds — we don't estimate prices, and we don't fill gaps with figures from third-party trackers or analytics sites. When a market shows on AllTop, its numbers are the venue's numbers.
We currently ingest data from three venues: Kalshi, Polymarket, and Polymarket US. We pull from each venue's own interfaces — the same catalog, trade, and market-data feeds the venues publish, including their real-time channels — so prices and trades arrive within seconds of happening, while slower figures like daily volume rollups refresh on a schedule. Every market page shows a data status label and timestamp so you can see how fresh its numbers are.
Other venues named in our coverage, including operators in the regulatory table on our markets pages, are not ingested. They appear as editorial coverage only, and we don't show live prices for them unless and until we add their feed. Market data is not investment advice. A price is the market's implied probability at a moment in time, not a forecast we endorse or a recommendation to trade. Whether to act on it is the reader's decision.
We keep news and markets distinct. A story is reported as a story, a price is shown as a price, and a page carrying both makes clear which is which. We add a market to a story only when a relevant one exists.
Fact-checking and corrections
We fact-check our reporting against its sources, and when we get something wrong we fix it. Substantive corrections — anything that changes the meaning of a story, a number, or an assessment — are made promptly and noted on the page so readers can see what changed.
