The negative health impacts of chronic stress
Chronic stress is obviously a bad thing––it’s in the title, after all––but how bad is chronic stress? And what is stress, anyway? Stress is essentially your body’s response to danger. You’re triggered into thinking that you need either to fight or to run. That makes your body focus its energy on those things and away from other things, like fighting colds and other infections or digesting your food.
