Why empathy is so important in horror flicks

You know the tropes: being isolated somewhere without cell service, jump scares in the dark, and so on. But this video examines another reason that horror movies freak us out, and the reason that horror movies can really get under our skin: empathy. It’s important to note the difference between empathy and sympathy. Empathy means that you put yourself in someone else’s shoes; sympathy means that you see someone else’s problems for your own perspective.
