Amazon Echo records woman’s conversation, sends it to random contact
Posted by Josh Taylor / May 27, 2018Amazon Echo sits in your house, generally looking like a harmless cylinder. That cylinder may not be harmless, however, it could do quite a bit of damage to you. A woman in Portland claims that her Alexa device recorded a private conversation and sent it to a random contact. It’s everyone’s worst nightmare––imagine complaining to your boss only to have an audio file of your complaints sent to the boss! Amazon’s comment:
“Amazon takes privacy very seriously. We investigated what happened and determined this was an extremely rare occurrence. We are taking steps to avoid this from happening in the future.”
