Grand jury report accuses PA Catholic dioceses of covering up 1000 cases of child abuse

A recent grand jury report accuses more than 300 priests of abusing a thousand children over the course of seventy years. Some of the abuse cases are truly terrible: “a priest who raped a young girl in the hospital after she had her tonsils out; a victim tied up and whipped with leather straps by a priest; and another priest who was allowed to stay in ministry after impregnating a young girl and arranging for her to have an abortion.”
The priests were able to get away without punishment because leaders in the church hierarchy covered up for the priests, moving them around or retiring them to avoid trouble.
