If you were put on the spot and asked to name one female pilot, odds are good that you would name Amelia Earhart. She’s often listed as among the most inspiring and famous women of all time. But here’s the thing: she wasn’t the best female pilot of her day. In fact, loads of women outflew her in a variety of categories. So why is Amelia Earhart so famous, even to this day? Easy: it was engineering that way.
